AutoZone, Inc. Associate Attorney, Property Management in Memphis, Tennessee

Advise and assist the Property Management team and other AutoZone functional areas on a wide variety of real estate legal matters affecting our open stores.

Responsibilities

• Provide trustworthy legal advice to the functional areas of Property Management, Operations, Maintenance, Real Estate, Store Development (post store opening), Asset Management, Environmental, Risk Management, Tax, Disaster Relief Team, and Litigation in real estate related matters arising after store opening.

• Draft and negotiate a wide variety of real estate documents, including but not limited to, easement agreements, access agreements, estoppels and SNDAs, commercial real estate contracts and applicable amendments.

• Manage real estate disputes and litigation, including but not limited to, eminent domain matters and landlord-tenant disputes.

• Advise on matters affecting operating stores, distribution centers and other AutoZone properties regarding landlord/tenant disputes, lease renegotiations, condemnations, utilities, store expansions, tax issues, maintenance issues, environmental issues, asset management issues, disposition of excess property, casualty loss events, easements, requests to modify restrictions, SNDA and estoppel requests, CAM disputes, special projects, etc.

• Contribute to overall sales objectives by protecting corporate assets and ensuring stores operate in a manner consistent with corporate plan.

• Seek opportunities to reduce costs and increase income from corporate real estate assets.

• This position will be responsible for a standard case load commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree (JD); active bar in Tennessee (or other state with capability to obtain in-house counsel license in TN).

• Two to four years of experience in real estate development, contract or corporate law.

• In-house or firm experience is strongly preferred.

• Licensed member of a state bar
